Hold My Hand

13 Sep

The time we have is so limited these days. We rush around from place to place.

Some days fly by without even a kiss. Before we know it there is another moment that we have missed.

The value of our lives can be determined in so many ways. Joy, time, wealth, happiness, trust, success and love.

The way people list their values comes from how they were raised or not raised. It is amazing how different two people thoughts can be.

When you are in love and bonded to another it takes work to make each of your values are respected. You will have to bend a little, it is a give and take. But make sure that you always stay true to what you believe and do not have to act Fake.

Kind words, gentle voices and holding of hands are just a few ways to bring each other back to the light and remember where it all started.

Be kind. It is so easy to forget.

Happy Anniversary!

18 Feb

Today 5 years ago I was introduced to my Hubby. I would say that it was love at first sight, and I told several people after our first meeting that we would be married ( I didn’t tell him that)! I do have to give a shout out to my BFF Stace, I owe our introduction to her. (They were co-workers) We dated for 2 1/2 years, engaged for 1 year, and now married for 1 1/2 years.

Having Valentine’s day and our anniversary in the same week usually makes for a very romantic time. Nice dinners, wine, gift exchange.. This year he is traveling for work, but the first message I got this morning was from him wishing me a Happy Anniversary. Ahhh, he remembered without any prompting.

I am not sure the exact date the we decided that we were officially boyfriend/girlfriend, but that does not matter. What counts is the day we met and that it was the beginning of our lives together.

So my question to you is, do you still celebrate the first date or the first time you met your loved one?

xoxo

Valentine’s Day

16 Feb

Driving home after work Monday I called my boyfriend and we decided that we were going to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Tuesday because we both weren’t prepared and were tired after a long day. On Monday’s I teach a dance class after work so straight from work I went to the studio. On my way home from dance I decided it wouldn’t hurt to be a bit romantic… I didn’t expect anything from the boyfriend but figured I needed to acknowledge the holiday a bit, since I am very lucky to be in love. I stopped by Baskin Robins on my way back to the apartment and picked up a little ice-cream cake, it was red velvet cake with red velvet ice-cream yummmmm! To my surprise when I walked in the apartment my boyfriend had bought me a beautiful bouquet of red roses. Sitting on the table was an adorable display of the roses along side a big bag of salt and vinegar kettle chips and a new bottle of ketchup (my FAVORITE snack). I laughed when I realized that despite our attempt to be anti-valentines day and to celebrate on our own terms we both had wanted the other to feel special on the Hallmark holiday.

Describe Your Marriage

12 Feb

I am not an expert on marriage and can not offer any sort of knowledgeable advice seeing that I have been married for only  1 1/2 years. BUT, I have been fortunate enough to be surround by many marriages that have lasted a long time. My parents just celebrated 35 years, my husband’s parents are still happily married, both my grandparents had long loving relationships. Even my friends growing up, their parents are all still married.

As I enter into this journey called marriage, I often think about what it takes to make it work. (In no particular order.)

  • Love
  • Respect
  • Family Values
  • Manners
  • Friendship
  • Laughter
  • Trust
  • Communication
  • Security

If you could describe your marriage in 5 words, what would those words be?
